Joomla Countdown Module

16 comment(s)

Its been a year since the first released of this module. The first released is in the beta stage and it has a very small functionality it even let you manually edit the php file to make it work. Therefore, I am happy to release version 1.0.5 a more stable and complete module. This is a full update to this module before posting the download link, lets make a recap.

What is Countdown Timer?

Countdown module counts down using the time and date in php, which obviously varies depending on the visitor, and is great for counting down to "relative" events such as Christmas, your friend's birthday etc.

Changelog (v1.0.5):

  • Support Joomla 1.5 Native
  • Added javascript timer.
  • Support different timezone.
  • Frontend style support.
  • and many more..

Mokoyo

nice mod. can i add an image and url? will try.

Mokoyo

Ooops! Internet Explorer can not open my website OPERATION ABORTED! It opens the site i can see the side modules but not the frontpage items (news), disabled the mod and my site works ok... in Firefox works great. Any ideas?

Rob

Hi Mokoyo, thank you for your comments. Its working both in ie6 and ie7. Is your javascript setting in ie enabled? If not set it.

Buddy

It would not install. You sure this is for 1.5 install? If so, why doesn't it install? 'Could not move file'.

Rob

It is working in j1.5. I guess your problem was in file permission. Try to chmod all your files and folder to 0777 and install the countdown module.

It does what it is supposed to do, the timer part, but when I put it in my site it only shows hours and minutes, not the days, and a little message like: for this event to take place... Am I doing something wrong? I'll keep trying, to see if I can figure it out, but if you have a suggestion, I'd appreciate it. Thanks though, nice mod :)

Jorge

It is me again... For some reason the timer is getting the wrong date, I tried a next-day date, and it was only giving me only the hours, minutes and seconds. When I changed it to a next week, it gave me 7 days, hours mins secs, when it should have given me 8 days.

In any case, I tried to change the output to: for this event to take place ... and I cannot do it. Am I supposed to change the php files? Not very familiar with that, but I guess I'll have to try.

Thanks again

Joe

Trying to style the counter doing this:

dd+" Days "+hh+" Hours "+mm+" Min "+ss+" Sec"

but the Headline tags make the lines wrap.. is there an easy way to style the HTML code? Seems like if I put any code in front of the dd or HH it will not work.

thx

Ken

Is there an easy way to change the font size?

Rob

The current version does not have an easy front-end display customization. Probably, this will be included in the next upcoming release. Please let me know if you have any queries. Thanks.

Resty

Hi, Rob. So thanks for the module. It's great but I am doing a project, actually a question and answer component. I want to integrate your Count down module, like for example after 10 minutes, the questionnaire will reload giving the examinee a new question to answer. Parang stop watch. Thanks again and I hope you could help out 'cause I don't know where to start writing a code. Thanks again, man.

Rob

The code behind the counter is javascript. It is customized to work with php. The code is easy to follow and license under GPL so feel free to copy it.
